Light Yagami was just a normal high school senior at Daikoku in Japan. That is until the fateful day when he found a dropped notebook called the Death Note. At first Light believed it to be a hoax and that it was just a trick, until he tried out the notebook.
The notebook claimed that if one were to write down a name while thinking of that person's face they would die withing 40 seconds of a heart attack, unless the cause or time of death was specified. Light decided to humor the notebook and wrote down a name of a criminal, thinking of the man's face. And low and behold, the man died exactly 40 seconds later.
Light began hatching an idea. He could punish all the criminals in Japan, and then the whole world, bringing justice to all those who cause trouble. Soon there would be peace. Light decided that he would not hide his actions, and that he would become a god of the world. His guide, the Shinigami Ryuk, and previous owner of Light's Death Note, informed him of an apple obsession he had, as well as the existence of Shinigami and how Light came upon the Death Note.
The famous detective L has been brought into bringing this criminal killer, known as Kira by the public, to his own justice. L is determined to find out who is Kira and bring them down.
What happens in the future is up to you. Things may go down just as it did in the anime or manga, or everything could run off course. That is up to you.
