being used to trouble i anticipate it but all the same i hate it, wouldn't you? cabi asked herself the same question every single morning. why the hell does she bother getting up at this time for breakfast when she knows she won't eat it? truth was, she needed it and needed it badly. her body woke itself up because of the hunger and the squelching noises. so instead of fighting it, cabi rolled herself out of bed and dressed herself in her ravenclaw robes for a day of what should be learning. but like any school, a lot of time at hogwarts was socialising.
she checked her timetable and sighed due to having arithmancy first. true, cabi was damn good at the subject and it's logical equations but it was just so boring in her eyes. scanning the rest of the day she smiled at having double transfiguration in the afternoon. now that was a real subject. packing her needed books into her bag she looked in the mirror. "holy merlin!" she thought "i look a mess!" hastily grabbing her wand she twisted her hair back into a messy bun carefully coiffed at the sides. after a quick once over she was satisfied with that aspect of her appearance. she then added a single coat of mascara and some bronzer to highlight her already prominent cheekbones. "that'll have to do," she nodded.
waving to her dorm mate who had only just woken up she left the room. "at least i don't look that bad in the mornings," she mused as she climbed down the stairs into the common room. her best friend hadn't waited, figures. she was probably with her boyfriend again. like every other morning. damn their happy, cute love. rolling her eyes she continued down the great staircase to the ground level and swiftly walked through the entrance hall and into the great hall. scanning the room she noticed her friend, fortunately not halfway through a game of tonsil tennis and gave her a quick smile and a wave. cabi liked her boyfriend, but not enough to spend every living minute with him. so, searching the rest of the table she found someone moderately bearable and made herself comfy next to them. "hey honey, how's it going?" cabi mused as she sat down. small talk followed while cabi filled her plate only to play around with the food.

Ruby Elise Morgan was not the definition of a morning person. She was actually the total opposite of that, and her family, dorm mates & most of her house sadly got to experience that. It wasn't like she had much control over it and would apologize to any and everybody that she snapped at. It just took her longer to become a functioning member of society. Apparently that was another she and her mother had in common.
Quickly undoing her hair from the braid she had slept in, Ruby grabbed her hair brush and began to brush out her hair. With her hair being pretty thick, and annoying, she made sure to put it up in a braid or two before bed just so it wouldn't get too tangled in the morning. Once her hair was brush and pretty, all Ruby really had to do was put on her socks and shoes and then she would be out the door.
Walking alone to the Great Hall, Ruby was use to it. What shocked her more was when people decided to walk and talk with her. She was use to her older brother already being at the Gryffindor table & she would run to him to say 'hello' & 'good morning' to him & his friends.
The Hufflepuff table was like how it always was; filled with students talking about random subjects. Taking a seat near the end of the table, little Ruby brushed some hair off of her shoulder and looked at all of the different food. So many choices. 'Toast' she though to herself and placed some onto her plate. 'Eggs? No.' And that was what she did, think to herself and place food onto her plate. Totally normal; for Ruby Morgan.
Hearing somebody speak to her, Ruby's head perked up a little and she smiled before she even saw who was talking to her. Cabiera Emerson, or as Ruby called her, Cabi. She viewed the girl like an older sister. A very fashionable older sister really. Tucking some hair behind her ear, she continued to smile. "Hello" she said rather happily. She didn't notice that some people really didn't like Cabi one bit, but she was young & had much to learn. "How are you today Cabi?"

being used to trouble i anticipate it but all the same i hate it, wouldn't you? the look of the greasy bacon made cabi's stomach feel quite uneasy. "imagine all the calories," she thought. true, it was probably all her body weight in that slice. in all fairness, that particular slice was at least sixty percent fat.
she hadn't always had this standoffish attitude towards food. in fact, as a young girl she ate more than her body weight every day but she was never overweight due to her genetically fast metabolism. it was only when cabi was about thirteen or fourteen that she started to care about her appearance which, in fairness, is like most girls. she'd sit inside looking at pictures of models and celebrities while her brother would play outside which is when her addiction to fashion began. the hatred towards food started about a year later when she realised that she wasn't petite enough to fit into a certain dress. a fifteen year old girls brain has always been quite easy to manipulate and cabi was no different to the rest of the world.
it all began when she began vegetarian. she loved to eat meat but she knew that hardly any meat was lean and therefore, wasn't good for her figure. she told her parents that she just didn't want to kill animals and they were supportive of her views. however, the whole food craze began to spiral out of control a few months into vegetarianism. at this time, she had just started her sixth year at hogwarts and out of the reach of her caring parents. the nurse had warned cabi multiple times but to no positive result.
so now, here she was, struggling to maintain the energy to get out of bed in a morning. cabi knew deep down that people were worried about her weight loss but she liked her body like this and she wasn't going to change for anyone. like every other day, she'll sit and the long, oak table and not eat a bite.
cabi felt extremely young again with ruby around. she was one of the cutest specimens cabi knew and because of that reason she felt a strange attachment to the second year. despite already having two younger sisters there was always room for ruby in her life. at ruby's greeting cabi smiled slightly and replied "not too bad at all, dear. yourself?" giving the girl a once over she started again "have you slept with a plait in your hair again? you're hair's cute when it's all wavey." she nodded her approval.

Grabbing a few strips of bacon, Ruby smiled. Man oh man did she love food. But then again she was young and really didn't have any dislike for food, well except pumpkins. Her allergy was so bad that she had to stay away from people who had eaten or even drank something with pumpkin in it for a few hours or so.
Brushing some of her hair away from her face, Ruby would very angry if any of her hair got into her food and if her got all dirty from it, she ate her bacon slices. Yum. If she had to pick a food to live off of for the rest of her life, Ruby would probably pick bacon. It was just so delicious how could she NOT pick it?!
Hearing Cabi's question, Ruby nodded her head as she grabbed a piece of toast and took a bite into it. Toast, yum. She loved toast, especially with jam. Which reminded her that she had forgotten to put jam on her toast, silly Ruby! Grabbing her knife, she looked at the different flavors. Today she felt like having some strawberry jam. "Yeah" she finally answered with words before taking another bite. Grabbing some orange juice, she took a sip and set her piece of toast down.
"If I don't sleep with my hair put up in some way it becomes a really huge mess to deal with. And last time I had an older Hufflepuff mess with it and I swear she pulled out a lot of strands of hair!" Ruby explained to her older 'sister'. It was a horrible experience & from then on she rarely let anybody else but herself mess with her hair.
