cassandra ♦ joanne ♦ sinclair ♦ i feel so alone on the friday nights can you make it feel like home ♦ Cassandra arrived at Grimmauld place a while before the meeting was scheduled to start. She often did so, or even checked in when the Order hadn't agreed to meet. There was usually someone pottering around at headquarters so it was a good place to go for Cassandra when the solitude she so hated threatened to close in on her.
Today, as well, she hadn't felt like staying home until the beginning of the meeting so she'd flooed in to see if someone was there, to talk to; to keep her company. If not, well, she had brought some work with her which she could do up in the small library. Her being the first one in for a meeting wouldn't exactly be an unusual occurrence. Once in a while, someone joked about it; said she might as well be living there or that she really needed a boyfriend. But Cassandra didn't mind. She simply liked it here and she liked the people.
There was no one in the kitchen, which was unusual, but Cassandra thought she'd heard something upstairs. She climbed the stairs to the nect floor and pushed open the door at the top with a creak.

Gotta get a handle on the situation A soul solution for my frustration_________________________________________________ Sadie had arrived at number twelve Grimmauld Place almost an hour before the meeting had been scheduled to meet. For her, it had been common sense, after all, she would have ended up being called about at St. Mungo's instead of leaving on time. There always was something for her to be working on there, which was why she had brought a bit of paperwork with her to work on before the meeting started. It was, after all, better to get at least a little bit of work done, since she had had to leave work an hour early. It had horrified her at first, the thought of leaving her patients to the other healers and mediwizards, though it still wasn't as bad as when she had first started working there. Those days she had practically lived at St. Mungo's, taking care of her patients.
With a sigh, Sadie glanced down at the paperwork before her as she sat at a desk in one of the spare bedrooms on the second floor at the Order of the Phoenix's headquarters. Her quill scratched lightly across the parchment as she finished the last few lines of the report of a patient who had just come in, splinched. It was a common enough malady, however, splinching seemed easily prevented to the former Slytherin. This patient had suffered multiple wounds across his body, which had been healed. Some of them, however, had been more severe, which had resulted in him needing to stay for a few days. This, of course, had led to her own report.
Sadie sighed as she placed her pen back on the desk carefully. Rubbing her temples slightly and shaking her head as she stared at the finished, and unfinished stacks of papers before her. Sadie stood slowly, stretching her limbs and walking about the room to stretch her legs, which were a bit stiff from sitting there for the past hour, her footsteps causing the floorboards to squeak. Sadie shook her head and sighed again when her eyes landed on the papers. So much work to do. She thought with yet another sigh. True, all of the work was worth it, but it was still a hassle sometimes.
Startled out of her revere, Sadie blinked when she heard a voice call out Hello and asked if anyone was there. The relatively young healer blinked at the figure in the door, another member of the Order of the Phoenix. "I am." Sadie said, stating the obvious and giving a slight wave of her hand at the other women.
Sadie wasn't necessarily familiar with all of the members of The Order of the Phoenix, so it was plausible that she didn't know the women before her. Which was completely true. And a bit shocking, at that, since Sadie could remember all of her patients with a bit of a startling recall ability. "So you're here for the meeting too?" Sadie asked in a conversational tone. Maybe it was a bit obvious, but some things were when you made conversation, after all.

cassandra ♦ joanne ♦ sinclair ♦ i feel so alone on the friday nights can you make it feel like home ♦ Cassie hadn’t been sure she’d be getting an answer, since she hadn’t been certain that she’d really heard something upstairs. Number 12 Grimmauld Place was an old house, after all so strange sounds and ominous creaking pretty much was a given. When she did get an answer, a female voice announcing her presence, Cassie followed it until she came face to face with another woman. They hadn’t met before, Cassie was sure, but then, the Order had rather many members, not all of whom always managed to come to meetings so it was possible some went months without every seeing each other.
“Oh, hello,” Cassie greeted the other witch who was waving at her little. Cassie smiled. “I wasn’t sure I’d really heard someone in the house. I’m glad I didn’t imagine it.” She said.
Taking another closer look at the other witch, Cassie confirmed for herself that no, she really didn’t know her. She would have probably remembered the eyes, especially. Their colour was one that would stick in your head.
“Yes, I’m here for the meeting. Got in a bit early just in the hopes that maybe someone would be here. And if not, it’s always a good place to get some last minute work done before the bustle of the meeting starts.”
Cassie wasn’t a workaholic, but working was something she often did when she was alone and needed something to occupy her mind. And since she wasn’t at home, she didn’t have her cat to play with or any book to read – though Grimmauld Place did have a rather impressive, if small, library. Though curious as she was, Cassie had picked up the odd interesting-looking book once in a while, one of the ones that looked particularly old, exotic or foreboding.
“But I don’t think we’ve met,” Cassie said conversationally. “I’m Cassie Sinclair.” She held out her hand for the other woman to shake.

Gotta get a handle on the situation A soul solution for my frustration_________________________________________________ Sadie smiled slightly when the woman that had spoken entered the room, saying hello. "Hello." The young healer returned the greeting in a consistent, conversational tone of voice. She nodded in agreement when the women that stood before her said that she hadn't been sure if she had heard someone up here, but she was glad that she hadn't been imagining it. Sadie could agree easy with her, the house, as old as it was, was inhabited by strange things, or rather had been. Over the years it had been mostly cleaned out, so she had been told. However, having a Bogart jump out at you from seemingly nowhere when you opened a drawer wasn't something that Sadie wanted to experience. Of course, neither were any of the other magical, house hold pests.
The things that Sadie knew could make floorboards creak, however, were more frightening, since that meant that they were larger, and could do more damage. not to mention that it could also mean that death eaters had found the Order of the Phoenix's headquarters. And any Death Eaters that found her, well, they didn't specifically like her. After all, Sadie was a muggleborn a "mud blood" who had also been a Slytherin. She was sure being a seer would make them look more favorably at her in any occurrence. However, even being long descended from wizards would never help her. She had barely managed to win over her housemates after six years. Let alone worming her way out of a sticky situation like that in moments. To say the least, sometimes she wasn't a big fan of the large, old house.
Sadie nodded in agreed understanding when the other person occupying the room spoke, saying that she had arrived a bit early in the hopes that another person would be here. She also said that, otherwise it would have been a good place to get last minute work down before the bustle of the meetings began. Sadie agreed with her completely, especially since the latter had been something that she had been getting accomplished moments before.
It could have been said that Sadie pushed herself a bit too hard at work, maybe that she was a workaholic, as well. After all, half of the reports that she was actually working on weren't even due for a few days at the least. She typically just felt that she had something to prove, being a muggleborn. that she didn't rely on her seer gifts to help her. More than anything, sometimes, she wanted to prove that she was just as good as the rest of them. Though that was only ever one part of it, since she absolutely adored her job, above it all.
"I can relate, a bit, Sadie commented, giving a slight smile to the women before her. "I came here early because there would never be a way I could pull myself away from my patients otherwise. There's always something to do at St. Mungo's." The young healer said, giving a slight shrug of her shoulders, "I was just finishing up some of my reports, too." She gestured back at the pile of papers, neatly stacked on the desk. She had gotten through a lot of them in the past hour.
Sadie nodded in agreement when the women said that she didn't believe that they had met before. She gave a slight smile when the women introduced herself as Cassie Sinclair. Reaching to shake Cassie's hand, Sadie's smile widened a bit, "I'm Sadakanta Bryant." She said, her grin widening even more as she spoke her name, "That's a bit of a mouthful, though, so you can just call me Sadie." She added, grinning by the time she finished and dropped Cassie's hand. She always had loved her name for the fact that it was foreign and unique. Quite odd, too, but fitting.

cassandra ♦ joanne ♦ sinclair ♦ i feel so alone on the friday nights can you make it feel like home ♦ Sadakanta Bryant? That was indeed a mouth full But Sadie sounded just fine.
“That’s a beautiful name,” Cassie said, smiling. “Very exotic. But I know what you mean. No one really calls me Cassandra either.” She chuckled. Cassie had long since stopped introducing herself with her full name. It was long and everyone tended to end up calling her Cassie anyway. In fact, usually when someone called her by her full name, Cassie knew that something somewhere was wrong and she might be in trouble. That hadn’t changed since her childhood years.
Cassandra’s smile widened even more as she heard that Sadie worked at St. Mugo’s.
“You work at St. Mugo’s? That’s great,” she said. Cassie had the highest respect for the mediwizards and witches at the hospital, or in general, really. In Cassie’s mind, everyone who made it their job to help people was doing something very valuable and worthwhile.
Cassie herself had only seen the inside of the hospital a few times, thankfully and only ever for something minor or because she was visiting someone. She knew quite a few people who either just had rotten lack when it came to accidents or really should try to be more careful. But she’d forgive them for that since Cassie knew she herself could be quite reckless at times. She did remember, though, that there had been quite a few splinching incidents around the time they’d all been learning to apparate.
“I work for the Verity,” Cassie said. “It’s not a St Mungo’s, but we try to do our best in what we do.”
And really, Cassie loved her job. When Harvey had asked her if she’d wanted to work there once she had finished at Hogwarts – which she’d attended in the same year as Harvey’s daughter and a year below his son – she’d been over the moon. Cassie could have probably worked for the Prophet but she’d never quite agreed with its policies or, as it probably was, the Ministry’s policies for it. She was glad that someone had taken it upon himself to counteract that, in a way.

Gotta get a handle on the situation A soul solution for my frustration_________________________________________________ Sadie smiled when Cassie said that no one called her Cassandra, either. It made sense, since when someone was typically saddled with a long, more complex name, they always had a nickname. Of course, there was always the rare few who held on to their exceptionally long name. "My mother and my grandmother are the only ones who still use my full name. They've never really given up on it. Always ignoring my complaints, they are." Sadie said, finishing with a grin and a humorous shake of her head.
The young healer nodded when Cassie repeated that Sadie worked at St. Mungo's, as well as said how great that it was. "I love it there." Sadie replied with a broad grin, "Though after the way everyone was just a bit wary of former Slytherins, such as myself." Sadie gave a slight shrug of her shoulders, as if to communicate that it couldn't really be helped. They had had a right to be cautious, after all, Voldemort had been a former Slytherin, as well as a majority of his followers.
"Although, how they would have thought that I would be in cohorts with the housemates that teased me all the way up until sixth year, I'll never know." Sadie added, tilting her head slightly, as if contemplating it. The wariness was all easily understood by herself, however, she would have thought that at least some of the professors would have noticed the fact that all of the other Slytherin students teased her relentlessly. And, also the fact that she seemed to be a heck of a lot closer to students in the other houses, than those in her own house. Except maybe a few best friends. Those things were a bit of a mystery.
"Not to mention the wariness that the Order used to have against us. Well, I mean, Professor Snape used to be an Order member before all of the confusion with it all." Sadie stated, giving another slight shrug of her shoulders, "They're not as wary of us muggleborns, if I can be completely considered that, since the Death Eaters and all hate us." Sadie smirked slightly at the thought of being underestimated by Death Eaters. Boy would they have a thing coming to them. No one did well when they underestimated Sadakanta Ida Bryant. She always had a surprise or two up her sleeve, after all.
Sadie returned from her thoughts and nodded when Cassie said that she worked at the Verity, saying that it wasn't St. Mungo's, but they did their best. "I think that'd be a great job. We at St. Mungo's only heal people, but all of you spread the truth of it all." Sadie said, giving a friendly grin as she shared her true beliefs on it. After all, what could you due if you had lies muddling and distorting all of the truth? There would have definitely been quite large amounts of distrust in the masses in turn if they were still being fed lies, in turn, by the Daily Prophet.
"It's like a circle, really." Sadie commented, "We need everyone really, us healers, you Verity workers, the Aurors, and everyone, and we can't really due well without anyone of us, really." Sadie added, tilting her head in consideration, everyone did need everyone else. Sort of like the circle of life, except they kept the wizarding world set on it's tracks and running well. It was a group effort, underneath it all.

cassandra ♦ joanne ♦ sinclair ♦ i feel so alone on the friday nights can you make it feel like home ♦ Cassandra laughed and nodded in commiseration. “I know,” she said. “My uncle insists on calling me Cassandra. No matter how many times he does it or how old I get, I still feel like I’ve done something wrong, then. But he does it all the time.”
Not only that, but Cassie’s uncle, as nice as the man was, had a very commanding tone and together with her full name, it sounded like she had done something wrong. Though if he was really going to tell her off, he would have dropped a “Joanne”, Cassandra’s middle name in for emphasis.
Cassandra never understood the whole issue with house rivalries. It seemed a bad idea, to her, to force people into such groups according to their traits. It just didn’t seem healthy for morale or social interaction, in her opinion. But then, she’d never been sorted into any of the Hogwarts houses. Her first year at Hogwarts was also the first after the summer the houses had been abolished. Coming to think of that, it meant that Sadie must have been at least a little older than her in order to have still been sorted into Slytherin. Cassie had to admit that once in a while she wondered what house she might have been sorted in but generally she was against the idea and she hated that the new Minister had had such influence at Hogwarts as to reinstate the house system. It was horrible to think that groups of friends were now pitted against each other in Quidditch matches and striving for house points. Those who would have made friends with those they shared dormitories with would now have to share with someone else… It must have meant a lot of change for a lot of the students.
“I’m glad I never had to be sorted,” Cassie said. “Slytherin, Gryffindor, any of the others… what does it even mean? Just because Voldemort was in Slytherin doesn’t mean every Slytherin goes bad. I’m sure not all Gryffindors turned out good, either.” Cassie shook her head, her lips pressed into a thin line for a moment.
“You make your own destiny,” Cassie said with a small smile. “I firmly believe that.”
It tied into their next topic of conversation nicely.
“I think that’s why I love working for the Verity, as well. After all, if people don’t get to hear the truth, if they are constantly fed cover-ups and half-truths, they’ll form opinions that are skewed and not of their own free will. And that’s dangerous.”
Cassie smiled fondly at Sadie’s assessment of the circle they all worked in, keeping everything together.
“Yes,” she said, “we’re all needed in some way.”

Gotta get a handle on the situation A soul solution for my frustration_________________________________________________ Sadie nodded her head in agreement when Cassie said that her uncle always insisted upon calling her Cassandra, and it always made her feel as if she had done something wrong. That was how she felt when her grandmother used her full name, but it all depended on the tone of her voice. Her mother, however used her full name whenever she was upset with her. There had never been anything more frightening when she was younger than hearing her mother yelling her full name whenever she did something wrong and her mother ended up noticing.
Sadie's grandmother had never been able to really compete with her mother in the frightening category. Especially when her mother was mad. No matter how loving her mother typically was, when she got mad there was absolutely no comparison. Sadie's grandmother was just too, well, grandmotherly to frighten her, even now, to the same point that her mother could still accomplish.
Sadie nodded in agreement when Cassie said that she was sure that houses didn't make anyone bad or good. She agreed with Cassie when she said that just because Voldemort had been a Slytherin it didn't make all Slytherins bad. Just like Cassie said she was sure that all Gryffindor's hadn't been good. Sadie knew those fact well, after all, for one, she was a former Slytherin, as well as a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Plus, she had heard of Gryffindors that hadn't turned out all that well in the end, like Peter Pettigrew, who had worked alongside Lord Voldemort, despite being a former Gryffindor.
The young healer nodded in understanding when Cassie said that she liked her work at the Verity because, as she said, people needed to hear the truth or their opinions would be skewed, which would be dangerous. It was quite a valid point. After all, healing all of the truth was an extremely good factor to have in a successful society. There wouldn't really be any true trust in a government if the people weren't allowed to hear the truth, or weren't even given the truth.
"I guess I just love working at St. Mungo's because I like helping the people. It's sort of just rewarding in it's own way when the patients get to leave in go back to their family." Sadie gave a slight shrug of her shoulders and a smile at the thought of her job. She had always loved it and been sold on the idea of becoming a healer. It hadn't really been all that questionable in her mind, more set in stone in fact that many other things.
The witch nodded in agreement when Cassie agreed that they were all needed in their own way, it was true. A society needed all of it's components, at the end of the day.
